Virasat-e-Khalsa Inaguration on Nov 25, 2011

The Virasat-e-Khalsa in Anandpur Sahib, set to be thrown open 13 years after its foundation stone was laid, lends an insight into the turbulent events that unfolded in the previous three centuries in Punjab that gave birth to Khalsa.

“It is strictly a religious function and the inauguration will take place as per Sikh traditions (maryada). I along with the other head priests will be present to ensure that sanctity of the function is not violated,” said by Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.

Khalsa Virasat construction started in 1999 and contract was given to L & T contstruction company. Laterly it was renamed to Virasat-E-Khalsa.

The complex contains a 400-seat auditorium, double storied library, galleries to put up exhibitions, a walk-through ramp, a series of water bodies -- conceptualized by US-based Israeli architect Moshe Safdie and spread over 100 acres at the foot hills of Shivalik ranges.

Singers Asha Bhonsle, Jaspinder Narula, sufi singers Wadali brothers, Hans Raj Hans, Art of Living head Sri Sri Ravi Shanker, BJP president Nitin Gadkari and Chief Ministers of various states would also attend the function.
