PPP chief Manpreet Singh Badal led Sanjha Morcha on Saturday released a list of 47 candidates for the January 30 Punjab assembly polls. In this list
PPP has finalized 35,
CPI(M) 5,
 CPI 5,
 SAD (Longowal) 2.

Some of the candidates in the PPP and SAD (Longowal) lists including Gurdas Badal, Gurpreet Bhatti, Abhey Singh Sandhu, Gaganjeet Singh Barnala, Baldev Singh Mann, Harnek Singh Gharuan, Sukhdeep Singh Bhinder, Swaran Singh Dhun, Raghubir Singh  and Manpreet Badal himself have the capacity to spoil the chances of SAD (Badal) candidates.

On the contrary CPM and CPI candidates could spoil the chances of Congress candidates. In avoiding declaring rest of candidates PPP has kept doors opens for those heavy weight aspirants, who fail to get tickets of mainstream parties including SAD (Badal) and Congress.
Manpreet Badal himself drove all the candidates to Harmandar Sahib and Durgiana Temple in Amritsar. They also took an oath at historic Jallianwala Bagh to serve the people with honesty and integrity if voted to power.

This is the anniversary of a guru's birth or death; marked by the holding of a festival. A gurpurb in Sikh tradition is a celebration of an anniversary related to the lives of the Sikh gurus. Observance of these anniversaries is an important feature of the Sikh way of life. Today we are Celebrating Gurupurab of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (10th Guru)

"Guru Gobind Singh obtained from Guru Nanak Hospitality, the sword, victory, and prompt assistance."

(These lines were impressed on a seal made by the Sikhs after the Guru left for his heavenly abode, and were adopted by Ranjit Singh for his coinage after he had assumed the title of Maharaja in the Punjab)

The Guru Gobind Singh then left for his heavenly abode. The Sikhs made preparations for his final rites as he had instructed them, the Sohila was chanted and Parsahd (sacred food) was distributed. While all were mourning the loss, a Sikh arrived and said," You suppose that the Guru is dead. I met him this very morning riding his bay horse. After bowing to him, I asked where he was going. He smiled and replied that he was going to the forest." The Sikhs who heard this statement arrived at the conclusion that it was all the Guru's play, that he dwelt in uninterrupted bliss, that he showed himself wherever he was remembered. He who treasures even a grain of the Lord's love in his heart, is the blessed one and the Guru reveals himself to such a devotee in mysterious ways.

Wherefore for such a Guru who had departed bodily to Heaven, there ought to be no mourning. The Word as contained in the Guru Granth Sahib was henceforth, and for all time to come to be the Guru for the Sikhs.

• The Virasat-e-Khalsa in Anandpur Sahib, set to be thrown open 13 years after its foundation stone was laid, lends an insight into the turbulent events that unfolded in the previous three centuries in Punjab that gave birth to Khalsa.
• Balwant Singh Ramuwalia demolished His Lok Bhalai Party and Joins SAD.
• S. Prakash Singh Badal was awarded with Fakhar-E-Kaum Award.
• Ajit Newspaper Started Ajit Hariawal campaign to setup Green environment in Punjab and it was a great success.

Parliament tonight lost a historic opportunity to enact an anti-graft law when an embarrassed government was forced to beat a hasty retreat in the Rajya Sabha, lacking the numbers to push through the Lokpal and the Lokayukta Bill.
Initiating the debate in the Rajya Sabha, leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley also opposed minority quota in the Lokpal bench, inclusion of NGOs and keeping CBI out of the purview of the ombudsman.

"If you are creating history, let us not create bad history. We will be leaving a lot of task for the next generation to do," he said.
He made it clear the the BJP would not support the Bill in the present form. "Please accept amendments that the colleagues have moved," he said.

Going clause-by-clause in the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011, Jaitley said the ombudsman was "designed to be vulnerable to constitutional challenge. Let us create an institution which is constitutionally possible."

Referring to the provision on the setting up of Lokayuktas in the state, the BJP leader and noted lawyer said it would lead to creating "a grey area" by which the Centre can usurp powers of states. "Why are you creating a constitutional havoc? The government is trying to make constitutional cocktail," he said.

Jaitley said the government wants to subvert an institution even before its creation. "You want to kill it in the womb," he alleged.

Responding to the BJP argument, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the BJP is making excuses not to pass the Lokpal bill. He said that the Opposition party does not having the courage to make its stance clear.

Attacking Jaitley further, Singhvi asked if the BJP wanted to pass a Lokpal bill or not?

"They (BJP) are making statements of stringent conditions in the bill and are saying they want to pass a strong and comprehensive bill but after three months. They are using it (conditions) as a pretext not to pass the bill," Singhvi said.

• Lokpal, CBI & CVC can co-exist. A 70-year-old institution cannot cease to exist merely because a new institution is taking birth. Separation of investigation and prosecution is ideal
• India is a union of states and not a federation of states. The Bill has been amended to provide for consent of states before Lokayuktas can be notified
• Bill does not lay down any 'reservation' but merely states 'some or all' members of Lokpal should ideally represent the minorities and other sections
• Not all NGOs and trusts will come under Lokpal.

Sticking points

• CBI should be under Lokpal
• Regional parties say it is an assault on federalism and states cannot be forced to accept Central laws
• No minority quota in Lokpal

April 4 - Anna Hazare initiated anti-corruption movement from Jantar Mantar in Delhi. It gripped the whole nation during the 12-day hunger strike. The movement has been named among the top 10 news stories in the world for the year 2011 by Time magazine.

October 10 - Renowned ghazal singer Jagjit Singh died at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after he suffered a brain hemorrhage at the age of 70. Golden voice, Jagjit Singh made his mark with hits like Yeh zindagi kisi aur ki, Mere naam ka koi aur hai, Patta-patta boota-boota haal hamaara jaane hai, Hontho se chhoo lo tum, Tum ko dekha, Hazaar baar ruke ham and hazaar baar chale.


October 26 - Sushil Kumar, a computer operator and tutor who earns Rs.6,000 per month, went on to win the top jackpot prize of Rs 5 crore rupees in ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.


October 30 – For the first time Indian Grand Prix, the 17th race of the 2011 Formula One season took place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Germany’s Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull won the race.

November 2 – Pakistan grants MFN to India: Pakistan granted the 'Most Favored Nation' (MFN) status to India to take the bilateral trade relations to the next level.  This is the first time India received this status from Pakistan.

November 9 - Har Gobind Khurana, the first India-born person to win the Nobel Prize after Independence, died of natural causes in Concord, Massachusetts, on 9th November morning. He was 89 and is survived by his daughter Julia and son Dave.

December 4 – Padma Bhusan Dev Anand Died: Dev Anand died at The Washington Mayfair Hotel in London at the age of 88 on 3 December 2011 (4 December 2011 by IST) of a cardiac arrest. Indian film actor, writer, director and producer Dev have acted in 140 films and is a national award winner. He was considered as the top romantic hero of his time.

December 8 – Sehwag’s record: On 8 December 2011, he hit his maiden double century in ODI cricket, against West Indies, becoming the second batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to reach the landmark. His score remains the highest individual score in ODI cricket - 219 off 149 balls. He is the only player in world to score a double hundred in ODI and a triple hundred in Test Cricket.

December 15 - Indian Rupee value goes down to 54: The Indian rupee falls short by Rs 54.17 per US Dollar; record lowest by 46 paisa in the trade business and hence is the weakest currency note in Asia in 2011 now.
